Tarot Card - Death XIII

Tarot Card - Death XIII. There it is, the most feared tarot card ever; the Death card. But the Death card is such a beautiful card. It means the end of a period, and a new beginning. It's a symbolic death and saying goodbye to your old self, it's for Transformation.

The skeleton and his black armour is of course for death, in the Rider Waite card. His horse is white and symbolizes purity and rebirth. The skeleton carries a flag with the image of a white rose, which is representing beauty, immortality, and purity. The number five is also the number of change.

There is a dead person on the ground, and you also see a bishop, a female and a child, they ask Death to spare their lives, but Death does not discriminate, and spares no one.
In the background you see a boat, often connected to the boat to the underworld (Hades), from death to eternal life. And at the horizon you are seeing two towers. The night symbolizes death, and when the sun starts to shine the next morning; rebirth.

The number 13 is often seen as unlucky number. It can be reduced to 4. It can also be seen as number 1 and 3. The number 4 is the grounding number, powerful and trustworthy; the builder. Number 1 is the male energy and Source energy, number 3 the child; Creation.

The number 13 is for change, rebirth, transformation. Sometimes the number 13 is being seen as a lucky number, like in the I-Ching.
